The new interface of Movistar + for decos 4K UHD is now available

The new interface of Movistar + for decos 4K UHD is now available

A few days ago Movistar declared that the new interface for SmartTV of Movistar + was already available. Now, the operator continues to incorporate these improvements in other types of devices, in this case, its wired UHD or Smart WiFi decoder available for customers with TV Movistar + by ADSL or Fiber. The new interface is a complete redesign that was available from September 26, for customers in Castilla León and Castilla la Mancha and soon for the rest of the clients with UHD decoder.

Many new features within Movistar +. In addition to the new UHD interface that we will now address, we have news from the other side of the pond that suggests that Netflix will be offered within the Movistar + Premium package. Nor can we forget the new 4K channel in Movistar tests with Formula 1 or the idea of replacing the current decos with a new 4K UHD with Aura in a period between 18 and 24 months.

Movistar reports that it is a huge generational leap after the interface renewals of 2016 and 2017.

Among the novelties, we have the following:

  • Complete redesign of the interface: with a new home (main menu) in which the images of the contents gain more prominence and animations are included in the navigation.
  • Access to last channels seen from the menu: new street with the last watched TV channels that allows the instantaneous preview of the broadcast content.
  • New structure of carousels that allows the discovery of contents in a more agile way and improvements in content collections with easier access to filters.
  • New design of the contents file with a clearer information presentation, action area and additional sections to consult extended information and related contents.
  • New mini-guide of television programs and content player on demand

In relation to the main menu, we now have larger images and animations. What we selected with the control lights up in blue as one of the changes. We have a new street with the last channels seen by the user that allows us to preview the broadcast content of the channel (up to 10 channels will be shown).

The contents carousel now shows the most relevant information without having to enter the file. We have new content tabs with full-screen image content, new iconography on the action buttons and additional sections. The new mini-guide is divided into three areas with the channel, the program or suggestions, and you can navigate through them with the arrow keys.

The video on demand player has also been improved with direct access to configure audio and / or subtitles and view from the start. Also highlight the new search engine with which we will obtain results with covers from the first character and we can search by title, actor, director or by the suggested topics.

Amazon Alexa can whisper and it's a real technical feat

Amazon Alexa can whisper and it's a real technical feat

Amazon Alexa is able to whisper and will soon be able to recognize when the user is whispering instructions to respond in a low voice accordingly. The American giant explains that this new feature is a real technical feat.

Amazon has announced the arrival of a new feature on Alexa. The virtual assistant will be able to recognize if users are whispering, understanding what they are saying and responding by whispering so as not to make too much noise. Previously, Alexa already had the opportunity to murmur but it had to go through the parameters, and most importantly, it does not adapt automatically to the way users speak.

Amazon Alexa starts whispering

As Amazon says in a blog note, the development of this feature is a technical feat. Researcher Zeynab Raeesy explains that "the whispered speech is mostly non-vocal, which means that the vibration of the vocal chords is not involved, and so there is less energy at low frequencies than when normal speech.

Making Alexa understand whispers is therefore a significantly different challenge, both in terms of sound volume and intonation. To achieve this, Amazon's teams were inspired by the short and long-term memory network of the human being.

Whispering makes it possible to use the intelligent assistant even in situations that require silence, whether a baby or someone sleeping next to us for example. Echo speakers and other devices embarking Alexa will answer you by whispering if you do the same. The feature will be deployed in October 2018 in English in the United States and other languages and markets thereafter. Amazon has also recently deployed Alexa Guard to turn its Echo speaker into an alarm center. The AI is still evolving and we wonder if there is something it will not do in the future.

Mediaset Premium does not disappoint subscribers: here is Serie A and Serie B free for everyone

Mediaset Premium is able to not disappoint customers thanks to a new agreement with Perform for access to Serie A and Serie B free of charge, without any kind of contractual rescheduling.

Mediaset Premium manages not to disappoint the subscribers, after having promised the arrival of the Serie A on all television screens, here it is finally keeping the word with a resounding agreement with Perform for the retransmission of the main games of the Italian league, and more.

With a skilful marketing hit, after having been long pointed out as on the brink of the abyss, Mediaset Premium succeeded in that something much pursued in the previous months. The Serie A is safe, with the necessary limitations, but nobody forbids users with an active subscription contract to return to access the games of their favorite team.

Mediaset Premium: Serie A and Serie B are without prejudice, but with due limitations of the case

The Serie A, this year has been divided by time of transmission of the games, and no longer subdividing the football teams between band A and band B. Following a long battle, the acquisition was split between Sky and DAZN. Thanks to the agreement with Perform, Mediaset Premium customers have obtained free access to all DAZN content.

Specifically we talk about 3 games a week of Serie A (Saturday night hours, Sunday at noon and another match) and the entire programming of Serie B.
The viewing of the meetings, however, will not take place directly on the Premium Football or Premium Sport channels, but will require connection to the online streaming platform. As a result, an active data connection will always be required, as well as the use of DAZN applications on smartphones, tablets, notebooks or smart TVs.

We could define a half success, but the positive note is the non-increase in the actual subscriber prices.

Samsung has launched in Berlin its new family of high-definition TV that can even reach 8K with QLED technology and much more

Samsung officially presents the new QLED 8K TV with AI Upsca
ling at IFA 2018

Samsung opted for IFA 2018 to launch its new TV series. But these are not usual televisions as the company becomes part of the 8K world.

"We have worked tirelessly over the years to achieve continuous industry-wide innovations in image quality and the introduction of our  QLED 8K TV with Upscaling technology is an essential element for the screens of the future. "

To get images in 8K quality, Samsung Q900R adopts Real 8K Resolution technology, which is able to produce a maximum brightness of 4,000 nit, a standard used in most film studios.

This feature allows the TV to reproduce four times more pixels than 4K UHD models and even 16 times more pixels than Full HD TVs. The Q900R also includes Q HDR 8K, based on HDR10 +, which therefore offers perfect color reproduction for realistic images, just as reality would offer.
The 8K AI Upscaling system of the Q900R model, is nothing more than a proprietary technology that does nothing but rely on artificial intelligence, and is created to increase the quality of both image and sound even more than the characteristics of the TV itself.

In the event that a user finds himself looking at any content that is streaming or perhaps mirrored with low quality, the Quantum Processor 8K process will be able to detect it and perform what is defined as the content upscaling. to view everything with 8K quality. As for the Q900R model, this includes Direct Full Array Elite technology for greater contrast. The TV also also has a 100% color volume, which allows you to play billions of shades.

LG shows first 8K OLED TV at IFA

LG shows first 8K OLED TV at IFA

LG Electronics (LG) is introducing the world’s first 8K (7680 x 4320) OLED TV at IFA 2018.

The 88-inch 8K LG OLED TV features over 33 million self-emitting pixels to produce the unmatched contrast ratio and true blacks that define OLED TV’s iconic picture quality.

With OLED TV shipments in the market expected to double in 2018 and reach over nine million units by 2022, LG will continue to increase the OLED share in its premium TV portfolio and drive large scale consumer adoption of OLED TVs. While the 8K TV market is still in its infancy, it is expected to grow to more than five million units by 2022 and LG is committed to leading the ultra-premium market with its 8K OLED TV technology.

Despite advancements in LCD field, OLED has been often referred to as the “next-generation display technology” because it emits its own light, eliminating the need for any kind of backlighting. This allows for state-of-art TVs which redefine both the picture quality and the product design. Not only was LG able to pioneer such technologies, but it was also able to successfully market them.

“LG’s first 8K OLED TV is the pinnacle of technological achievement and the next evolutionary step in display technology” said Brian Kwon, president of LG Home Entertainment Company.

“4K OLED played a major role in reshaping TV industry and LG is confident that 8K OLED will do the same.”
